In a gruesome case, Cobra Video owner Bryan Phillips (real name: Bryan Kocis) was apparently stabbed to death and his home in Dallas set on fire last Thursday.

According to Wikipedia, “Kocis was stabbed and his throat was cut” and “his body was burned beyond recognition.” His identity was confirmed through dental records.

Kocis directed Brent Corrigan in movies like Take It Like A Bitch Boy, and also directed other films for Cobra like Fuck Me Raw , and Bareback Twink Orgy. The studio is known for its bareback twink videos and for launching the career of Corrigan.

Kocis was in legal trouble in the past for being caught on tape having sex with a 15-year-old boy. He was sentenced to probation. Recently, he has been involved in a lawsuit with Corrigan, whom Cobra Video accused of trademark violations and other claims, apparently for Corrigan’s continued use of the name “Brent Corrigan,” which Cobra Video claims is a trademark. (Brent Corrigan is now going by Sean Lockhart, but has a site called BrentCorriganOnline.)

According to Wikipedia, and as is known in the industry, Kocis has been in trouble in the past for allegedly releasing films featuring models who turned out to be underage, including Brent Corrigan.

On two separate occasions, Kocis has voluntarily pulled several of his videos from store shelves. On September 13, 2005, the four Cobra Video titles featuring the disputed Corrigan scenes were removed. On April 12, 2006, DVD and VHS copies of Campus Boys 1 and Campus Boys 2 were also removed. No reason was given in the later case, but an email, issued through Cobra’s video distribution company Pacific Sun Entertainment, stated “Under no circumstances should these titles be sold, rented or shipped to anyone. They must be boxed, sealed, and stored at your facilities until further notice.”

Kocis’ death was ruled a homicide by the coroner, and there are no suspects.

Brent Corrigan wrote this on his blog about the whole situation:

Dear Cobra Video and Brent Corrigan Fans,

In light of the tragic events that took place last week and due to the extreme sensitivity and its nature, I have been advised by my attorneys and law enforcement officials in charge of the investigation not to make public comments or statements regarding this very sad and senseless crime.

When I am again able, I will address the issues surrounding this terrible tragedy. Contrary to what others may have written, we had finalized a settlement with Cobra Video and Bryan regarding the civil lawsuit. The settlement documents were signed and all parties were looking forward to moving on to a mutually beneficial arrangement. Please pay your respects to Bryan Kocis, his family and friends. It is time to show them all the love and support you have shown me.

With all my love, respect and admiration,

Brent Corrigan
