Cannes AIDS Benefit

Sharon Stone, Kylie Minogue, Matt Damon & George Clooney were among the stars who came out to support the fight against AIDS on Wednesday night at amfAR’s 14th Cinema Against AIDS gala in Cannes.

The evening opened with Sharon Stone, Chairman of amfAR’s Campaign for AIDS Research, kicking off the record-breaking live auction by selling two of the Louis Vuitton vanity cases she designed for $95,000 each. Then, the Ocean’s 13 cast came to the stage to help auction two vacation packages for a total of $700,000. George Clooney boosted the package’s value by adding a kiss which he gave to the lucky winner at the end of bidding.

Kylie Minogue was moved to give an impromptu performance of Locomotion and Can’t Get You Out of My Head after guests bid $300,000 for the chance to see her perform. The annual benefit soiree on the sidelines of the Cannes Film Festival raised $7 million for the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR).
